Distributed Order Management (DOM) | Pipe17 Glossary

Distributed order management (DOM)

Distributed order management (DOM) is order routing scaled to a network: each order is placed across fulfillment locations (warehouses, 3PLs, stores) instead of a single default facility, and the term names both the discipline and the product category. A DOM engine weighs inventory, proximity, cost, and capacity to pick the optimal source, and splits orders only when rules justify it. DOM is the routing core of order management.
